The new version comes with many incremental improvements to this GTK3 desktop environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-s-new-in-xfce-4-16\">What&#8217;s New in Xfce 4.16<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The desktop&nbsp;icon set&nbsp;is completely changed to overhaul the vital aspect of the Xfce desktop environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was updated from a strange mix of random (partly Tango-based) icons and not following any naming scheme to a new, visually consistent set (following the freedesktop.org naming specification and a fixed color palette).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"920\" height=\"486\" src=\"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xfce416-icons.png\" alt=\"Xfce 4.16 Icons Set\" class=\"wp-image-5116\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xfce416-icons.png 920w, https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xfce416-icons-360x190.png 360w, https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xfce416-icons-768x406.png 768w, https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xfce416-icons-390x205.png 390w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 920px) 100vw, 920px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As we&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/xfce-4-16-pre1-dropping-gtk2-support-introducing-new-icons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported earlier<\/a>,&nbsp;there is <strong>fractional scaling support<\/strong> in Xfce 4.16 with the support for resizing and rotation. In addition, the display dialog has the 1x, 1.5x, 2x, and custom scaling options available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"460\" src=\"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xfce416-fractional-scaling.png\" alt=\"Xfce 4.16 fractional scaling\" class=\"wp-image-5117\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xfce416-fractional-scaling.png 700w, https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xfce416-fractional-scaling-360x237.png 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thunar&nbsp;file manager<\/strong> also received a boatload of fixes and quite a few notable features:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pause for copy\/move operations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support for queued file transfer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remembering view settings per directory<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support for transparency in Gtk themes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"454\" height=\"222\" src=\"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xfce416-thunar-pause.png\" alt=\"Thunar file manager\" class=\"wp-image-5118\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xfce416-thunar-pause.png 454w, https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xfce416-thunar-pause-360x176.png 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 454px) 100vw, 454px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Xfce Panel sees a new plugin, &#8220;Status Tray,&#8221; merging the status notifier and systray plugins. So you can now change the icon size in the panel using this plugin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"482\" height=\"687\"
