It can be used for both desktop and server installation types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, just like the paid edition, you must renew your subscription once a year. It should be noted that this is also completely free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So without further ado, let&#8217;s see how we can download and install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 for free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Step_:_Register_to_Red_Hat_Customer_Portal\">Step 1: Register to Red Hat Customer Portal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You must have an active Red Hat account to download, install, and use RHEL 8. At the time of writing, it is RHEL 8.5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two possible download options for the x86_64 architecture:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>DVD iso<\/strong>: Has all packages for offline installation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Boot iso<\/strong>: Installation is over the internet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This guide will use the &#8220;<strong>DVD iso<\/strong>&#8221; So, the installation steps are nearly identical if you install any of these distros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\":_Boot_from_RHEL__Installation_Media\">4.1: Boot from RHEL 8 Installation Media<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To start the installation process, boot from your RHEL 8 installation media. In the &#8220;Host Name&#8221; box, enter a custom hostname.
