{"id":35179,"date":"2021-09-19T22:10:25","date_gmt":"2021-09-19T22:10:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/?p=35179"},"modified":"2022-04-24T18:50:12","modified_gmt":"2022-04-24T18:50:12","slug":"ventoy-create-bootable-usb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/ventoy-create-bootable-usb\/","title":{"rendered":"Ventoy: How to Create a Multiboot USB Drive with Multiple ISO Files"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Whenever you want to try a new Linux distribution, you download the ISO image from the distributions website and write this to your USB flash drive <a href=\"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/how-to-create-bootable-usb-drive-using-dd-command\/\">using the dd command<\/a> or with the help of some other tool, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/how-to-burn-an-iso-file-to-a-usb-drive-in-linux-using-etcher\/\">Balena Etcher<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But now, a software tool called&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/ventoy-is-a-tool-to-create-bootable-usb-drive-from-multiple-iso-images\/\">Ventoy<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;changes all that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ventoy is an open-source tool for creating bootable USB drives.<\/strong> It can be used to create a bootable and permanent drive that can even contain more than one distribution at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The USB drive does not need to be formatted, and you can copy as many ISO files as you want. Ventoy will give you a boot menu to select them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Ventoy provides Legacy and UEFI Secure Boot support, supports ISO files larger than 4GB, and can be updated without reformatting the USB device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-create-bootable-usb-drive-with-ventoy\">How to Create Bootable USB Drive with Ventoy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Launch the Ventoy app. If you haven&#8217;t already, you need to connect your USB stick to your computer. If it&#8217;s not showing up in the device box, click the <strong>Refresh<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can see that we&#8217;ve got a 16 GB Kingston USB stick. So plenty of room for multiple operating systems. Make sure you don&#8217;t have any critical data and click <strong>OK<\/strong> to proceed. We&#8217;ve successfully set up our USB stick. Click on the <strong>OK<\/strong> button to close the message. First, boot your system with the newly created bootable USB drive.
