It is used to get a full summary of available and used disk space usage of the <a href=\"https:\/\/linuxiac.com\/linux-file-system-types-explained-which-one-should-you-use\/\">file system<\/a> on the Linux system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong><code>du<\/code><\/strong> command, short for disk usage, is used to estimate file space usage. The <code>\/dev\/vda1<\/code> contains 81120644 1K-blocks, it has 81120644000 bytes or 78,5 gigabytes of space in total.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Used<\/strong>: the number of 1K-blocks used on the filesystem.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Available<\/strong>: the number of 1K-blocks available for the filesystem.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use %<\/strong>: the percentage of disk used on the filesystem.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mounted on<\/strong>: the mountpoint used in order to mount the filesystem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-show-disk-space-usage-in-human-readable-format\">Show Disk Space Usage in Human Readable Format<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you noticed that the above commands display information in bytes, which is not readable at all? However, this inode table is limited in size.
