For NVIDIA users on AlmaLinux, the wait is finally over. Thanks to a collaboration between ALESCo (AlmaLinux Engineering Steering Committee), NVIDIA, and the community, AlmaLinux 9 and 10 now include native support for NVIDIA drivers, including CUDA and Secure Boot compatibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just a few years ago, native support like this wasn\u2019t feasible. However, NVIDIA\u2019s move toward open-sourcing its graphics drivers made it possible. But what is more important, their new products continue to roll out exclusively under this open model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another thing worth noting is<\/span> that AlmaLinux 9 and 10 now include Secure Boot-signed NVIDIA kernel modules, which makes it the first Enterprise Linux distro<\/a> to ship this right out of the box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Setting things up is simple\u2014just a few DNF commands<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n

sudo dnf install almalinux-release-nvidia-driver\nsudo dnf install nvidia-open-kmod nvidia-driver<\/code><\/span>Code language:<\/span> Bash<\/span> (<\/span>bash<\/span>)<\/span><\/small><\/pre>\n\n\n
Then, reboot your system. To verify if everything\u2019s working as expected with nvidia-smi:<\/p>\n\n\n
sudo dnf install nvidia-cuda-driver\nnvidia-smi<\/code><\/span>Code language:<\/span> Bash<\/span> (<\/span>bash<\/span>)<\/span><\/small><\/pre>\n\n\n
And lastly, if you need CUDA support:<\/p>\n\n\n
sudo dnf install cuda<\/code><\/span>Code language:<\/span> Bash<\/span> (<\/span>bash<\/span>)<\/span><\/small><\/pre>\n\n\n
