Trinity is super cool! I think the current Clementine is a more than sufficient replacement for “AmaroK classic”, though 🙂

You can still use the original KDE3 amarok with Trinity Desktop.

True that the version on the website (1.3.1) hasn’t been updated, but releases are still happening on their git? Although perhaps relatively minor stuff, there’s still activity it seems!

The version packaged in e.g. Debian is also a 1.4.x git release

And Clementine (which I use) was forked to Strawberry.

If you take a look at the screenshots, they probably look familiar. That is because Strawberry is a fork of the Clementine Music Player. Clementine has not been updated since 2016, while the most recent version of Strawberry (0.5.3) was released early April 2019.

Both still work, but have not been updated for some time. If Clementine was not available I would go to Strawberry.

During the KDE3 days, it was the best music player on any platform. Then they seemingly lost their way. Clementine continued the AmaroK 1.4 lineage, and it still works tremendously.
It’s strange seeing changes in this release such as “introducing partial support for CUE files” when e.g. Clementine had CUE sheet support for God knows how long, along with support for Spotify, Last.FM, web radio, what have you …
