Clem from Linux Mint has never said anything to indicate that Mint was “shifting toward Debian”. Not sure where you got that idea. Though it would be a wise move on Mint’s part, change is very hard to accomplish, especially for Mint-Ubuntu purists.

Regarding Ubuntu, there aren’t many people who like snaps, that’s for sure. But I’ve never heard of any allegations of sharing user data ??
