If something is easily verifiable, why do people need to contact you directly? Couldn’t you just provide the sources for verification that are publicly available? I am not saying you are wrong nor right I am just questioning.

You have a lot of factual errors in your article. The entire “Governance Model” has errors for both sides. And you’ve grossly misrepresented Greg’s role in the project. Greg does not “own” Rocky. We are community backed and the Rocky community (and sponsors) are happy with our decision for governance. Yes, it looks different then Alma’s but different doesn’t mean better nor worse.

Please do not spread FUD.

Both projects exist to support their communities. It’s a good thing that both exist and we want both communities to grow strong. There is no reason to spread FUD. We don’t want conflict with the Alma team. We want to lift up __all__ of the community interested in an Enterprise Linux OS.

If you like the Alma community and product, great! But there’s no reason to take digs at either project with incorrect and easily verifiable information. It doesn’t make either project (or their communities) look good when both are misrepresented.

Actually, there’s some debate as to whether he left the project or the project left him.

Yes, WHM/cPanel support is a strong argument towards which of the two distributions to choose.

I worked with Greg Kurtzer briefly when I was doing some documentation from CAOS. He was always an accessible person. Other than that, I wouldn’t know him if he walked up next to me.

You seem to have a grudge again Kurtzer. He has left CentOS before CentOS was sold to RedHat, so not sure why you hold that against him. Projects evolve, people come and people go. That is just part of open source projects.

There can be many reasons to have a different type of organizations back/support/control a project. I won’t pretend to know why the RESF chose to be a PBC or why AlmaLinux chose to be a Non-Profit. I do know that it can depend on the access to legal help and money availability.The important point is that each project has published their governance, even it isn’t the governance you prefer.

The important thing is that both projects have a path to migrate from CentOS 8 and have caring communities to help them evolve. If you get stuck, both projects have commercial support available.

Would you like to know why I chose AlmaLinux? It is supported by WHM/cPanel and Rocky Linux wasn’t the last time I needed to load a RHEL based distro.
